Our rich heritage as commercial Chartered Surveyors allows us to continuously diversify and cement our status as a progressive market leader across multiple disciplines.

The Walker Singleton story begins in the late 19th century...

Forming Walker Singleton

John Hoyle Stead, son of a surveyor, began as an auctioneer and estate agent in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, in 1889.

Several partnerships later, and in 1963, the competing businesses of P.T. Singleton & Son and B. Walker & Co. merged to form Walker Singleton.

Expanding with purpose

Although our name stayed the same, our service offerings significantly evolved to support a wider range of clients. We focused on commercial and industrial property services, expanding into business recovery and restructuring.

Over the years, strategic acquisitions – most notably that of Colliers Stewart Newiss – enabled us to cement our reputation for professionalism, depth of expertise, and exceptional services.

Always evolving, always trusted

With ambitions to further our expertise, we acquired premium residential brand Charnock Bates in 2015.

And over the next three years, we supplemented our recovery, restructuring, and surveying services by merging with highly experienced firms Richmond Asset Advisory and Hanson Chartered Surveyors – creating the WS group.

Reinventing residential

In 2023, we made two moves to enhance our residential arm. Firstly, we acquired respected Brighouse-based estate agent Daniel & Hirst.

Secondly, we launched our very own sister brand, WS Residential – with a refreshing estate agency approach that prioritises the experience before, during, and after moving house.

In 2024 we also acquired estate agency, Boococks, further bolstering our residential estate agency, WS Residential.
