Externally, the property is surrounded by substantial, stone wall-enclosed, churchyard and burial ground, which slopes from south down to north. The total site area is 0.92 acres (0.37 hectares) approx. There is no parking within the site.

The property stands in a pleasant, elevated position, at the junction of the B6409 Savile Road with Vicarage Road, approximately 1 km south of Dewsbury town centre.

This is a mixed land use area, with housing to the north and east, Headfield C of E Junior School to the south east and industrial and commercial property to the west, along Thornhill Road.
